Andy Cavatorta is a Brooklyn-based artist, designer, and engineer working with physical sound, machines, and computation.
His creative work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, TED, the MIT Museum, Ars Electronica, the Royal Opera House, the Oslo Opera House, and at museums, galleries, and performance spaces worldwide. He has collaborated with Björk, Matthew Herbert, and other composers, and has been featured in numerous short documentaries, including National Geographic’s Genius series. He has also been an invited lecturer at MIT, NYU ITP, MoogFest, SXSW, and the Acoustical Society of America.

Cavatorta is fascinated by the inner lives of machines and systems. He is inspired by the capacity of sound to express truths not expressible in words.
He holds a master’s degree from the MIT Media Lab and works fluently across software engineering, mechanical design, digital circuit design, and acoustic systems.
His future work will focus more on teaching and large-scale installations.

The Studio is made of people and their skills, talents, ideas, and sensibilities. The Studio is a place where people can bring their whole selves, make use of every skill they've ever learned, learn more, and have the freedom, trust, and support to do their best work ever.
The course of every project is deeply influenced by what every member of the current cohort brings to the table and makes possible.
